Surfers Against Sewage is a campaigning charity made up of water lovers who protect the ocean and all it makes possible. We are seeking a talented and passionate Policy and Advocacy Officer to deliver our vision of Thriving Ocean, Thriving People.
The Role: The successful candidate will support the creation and delivery of advocacy and campaigning plans that make the most of influencing opportunities to convince politicians, policy makers and business leaders to act to End Plastic Pollution. The role will focus on plastic pollution but there will ample opportunity to also support work on the connected issues of sewage and chemical pollution.
Job Requirements: The successful candidate will research and develop our positions on all policy and legislation related to mitigating plastic pollution and waste management in the UK. They will monitor developments in plastic policy across the UK and at an international level, develop relationships with key politicians and their staff, and create convincing arguments at a senior, national level. They will also prepare briefings on policy areas for various audiences and write formal submissions to government consultations and parliamentary inquiries.
