Role Summary
- Assist with the development of carbon and biodiversity projects within the European Projects team.
- Tasks may include partnerships and business development, projects feasibility assessment, associated research, carbon asset projects’ certification and monitoring etc.
Role Requirements
- A minimum of 6 months end-of-studies internship after a master’s degree OR 1 year apprenticeship in Environmental or Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, Economics or other sustainability-related disciplines.
- Strong interest in project management and environmental sustainability challenges.
- Fluency in written and spoken French and English.
- Analytical skills and proficiency in Google Suite or Microsoft Office are added advantages.

Job summary:
The goal of the Climate Projects Coordinator is to support the development of carbon and potentially biodiversity projects within South Pole’s European Projects team. This includes a variety of tasks such as partnerships and business development, projects feasibility assessment and associated research (Voluntary Carbon Market, EU Carbon Removals & Carbon Farming Framework etc.) as well as carbon asset projects’ certification and monitoring.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Assist with carbon projects development in Europe in potentially various sectors (regenerative agriculture, livestock, technical removals including biochar, BECCS etc.):
Feasibility assessment: analysis of possible certification pathways (standards, methodologies), ex ante estimations of GHG emissions reductions/removals potential, financial and strategic considerations etc.;
Validation of projects: development of Project Design Document and all other deliverables for submission to the certification standard, expansion and/or renewal of projects;
Verification rounds of projects: monitoring data and parameters processing, Monitoring Report development.
- Support business development activities :
Monitor key policy developments such as the EU CRCF;
Contribute to markets analysis;
Source new project opportunities in various sectors such as Scope 3 project development and contribute to proposals drafting.
Contribute to the development of materials and actions aiming to support the sales of carbon assets from projects developed by South Pole
Ensure that assigned tasks are delivered on time and with the quality required by South Pole, project partners and the clients
Manage project information and knowledge according to South Pole’s best practices.
Requirements:
6 months end-of-studies internship after a master’s degree OR 1 year apprenticeship, ideally in Environmental or Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, Economics or other sustainability-related disciplines
Strong interest in project management and environmental sustainability challenges
Ability to conduct research and analyze data
Good written communication skills for contributing to high-quality deliverables
Fluent in French and English, with strong oral and written skills in both languages

Proficiency in Google Suite or Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
Knowledge or general awareness of GHG emissions reductions/removals levers (Nature-based solutions, sustainable technologies, technical removals etc.), international Voluntary Carbon Market, certification standards, carbon projects core principles and eligibility requirements, biodiversity certificates etc.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and proactivity
Adaptable to a fast-paced international environment
Good prioritisation and time management skills.
