Role Summary
- Supporting the charity's financial management including income processing and maintaining financial records.
- Updating and managing all the financial data on the Trust’s CRM system.
- Helping with the year-end audit and providing financial support to other staff.
Role Requirements
- Familiarity with accounting software, Microsoft Word/Excel.
- Accuracy, attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of sales/purchase ledger processes.
- Prior experience in a finance assistant role and desirable is experience with a CRM system.

The John Muir Trust is a progressive conservation organisation dedicated to conserving, protecting and repairing wild places for the benefit of everyone. We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Finance Assistant.
The role involves supporting the financial management of the charity and its subsidiary. You will be responsible for carrying out various day to day tasks accurately and on time. This includes processing all income including donations, memberships, grants etc onto the Trust’s CRM system, updating and maintaining accurate financial records and files, and processing day-to-day finance transactions into the Trust’s finance/bookkeeping systems. You will also assist with year-end audit and deal with queries and provide financial support to other staff within the organisation.
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with accounting software, Microsoft Word/Excel, excellent accuracy and attention to detail, and strong communication skills. Basic knowledge of sales and/or purchase ledger processes is required, and experience with using a CRM system is desirable. Previous experience in a finance assistant or similar role is essential.
This is a part-time, permanent position. The role is home-based with occasional travel to the Edinburgh or Pitlochry office. The salary is Band B starting from £27,370 FTE. We offer a pension scheme with 5% employer contribution and 34 days (pro-rated) per year plus 2 ‘wild days’ or 2 sustainable travel days.
