Role Summary

  • Owning and diligently enhancing data products used for management reporting and investor communication.
  • Assessing, communicating, and delivering data requirements for product launches, geographic expansion, and other business changes.
  • Analyzing financial performance and underlying drivers to understand the past and influence future forecasting and finance strategy.
  • Partnering with stakeholders in finance and data to execute projects and identifying opportunities for further collaboration.
  • Initiating and ensuring improvements in processes and data infrastructure.

Role Requirements

  • Experience in data analysis supporting commercial decision making.
  • Proficiency in programming (preferably using SQL or Python, though transferrable skills will be considered).
  • Resourcefulness, proactiveness, and motivation.
  • Prior experience in finance (e.g., FP&A, investor relations, banking) or consulting, or working towards a financial qualification (e.g., ACA or CFA) – both are nice to have.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Looker) or finance systems (e.g., Anaplan, SAP), or in building data models (e.g., using dbt) – again, these are nice to have.

About our Data team

Monzo’s data discipline includes data analysts, data scientists, analytics engineers, backend engineers and machine learning scientists, embedded across the business.

The mission of Monzo’s data team is to:

We have a strong culture of data-driven decision making. We're great believers in powerful, real-time analytics and empowerment of the wider business. All our data lives in one place in BigQuery, our data warehouse.

Strategic finance data is a specialised squad within our finance and risk data team.

You’ll play a key role by...

  • owning and continuously improving data products used for reporting to management and investors;
  • assessing, communicating and delivering data requirements for product launches, geographic expansion and other business changes;

We’d love to hear from you if…

  • you have experience analysing data in support of commercial decision making
  • you are proficient in programming (we use SQL and python, but transferrable skills will be considered)

Nice to haves

  • you have work experience working in finance (e.g. fp&a, investor relations, banking) or in consulting
  • you have acquired or are working towards a finance qualification (e.g. ACA or CFA)

📍This role can be based in our London office, but we're open to distributed working within the UK (with ad hoc meetings in London)
