Role Summary:
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines
- Implement DataOps practices like testing, monitoring, and ensuring data quality
- Support overall business success by providing insights and developing data-driven products
- Ensure alignment between data systems and business needs
- Improve data quality and timeliness while ensuring adherence to security and GDPR requirements
Role Requirements:
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to combine data from different sources
- Proficiency in Python and SQL with awareness of AWS and Open Source tools
- Experience in working within a team and handling multiple stakeholders
- Nice to have: Experience with AWS Redshift, DMS, Jenkins, Airflow, dbt, EKS, Docker, machine learning methods, software engineering best practices and unit testing

We're seeking a Data Engineer to join our DataOps team at Sportscape (home of SportPursuit and Private Sport Shop), where you'll contribute to the full data lifecycle. This role offers a mix of data engineering and operational tasks. You'll be involved in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, as well as implementing DataOps practices like testing, monitoring, and ensuring data quality. Your work will directly support the Data Team in providing insights and developing data-driven products that drive business success.
Responsibilities include architecture, development environment, integrity & availability, and privacy & security. You will evaluate and align data systems with business needs and objectives, support the DataOps team with set up and use of our data tools, improve data quality and timeliness, and ensure adherence to security and GDPR requirements.
To be successful in this role you must have strong analytical skills, the ability to combine data from different sources, Python, SQL, awareness of AWS and Open Source tools, and the ability to work well with multiple stakeholders including Tech, DevSecOps and Analysts / Data Scientists. Experience with the tools we use (AWS Redshift, DMS, Jenkins, Airflow, dbt, EKS), Docker and Airflow, machine learning methods, software engineering best practices and unit testing, and both Mac and Windows is nice to have.
