We're at the end of the first year of our 5-year fundraising strategy and are looking for someone to join our Board who can lead in this area going forward, supporting staff and other trustees in its implementation and regular review.

What will you be doing?

As we embark on a new 5-year strategic plan, complemented with a fundraising strategy, this is a great time to join our Board! You'll also be part of the Finance subcommittee which meets with our staff Finance Manager before each Board meeting.While you'll have some experience in fundraising within a small charity, a commitment to the values of the charity and being a strong ambassador are equally important.  The main responsibilities and duties of this role include:

Reporting on progress of the fundraising strategy and action plan to the Board Offering guidance to staff and the Board around regulatory requirements and guidance on income generation, including Charity Commission and the Code of Fundraising Practice  Liaising, where applicable, with the appropriate member of staff responsible for the financial or fundraising activities of the organisation; Advising on financial and fundraising implications of the charity’s strategic plan;

Overseeing the charity’s risk‐management process;  

In addition, you should have the following qualities.

Experience of charity finance and fundraising The skills to analyse proposals and funding bids A willingness to be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis A willingness to be an ambassador for Arc, promoting its work to your networks

What difference will you make?

This is the time to look at financial sustainability during uncertain times for charities.  We are aiming to diversify income streams and develop our fundraising over the coming years.  This role will help set the foundations for Arc as we promote our 30th year of existence and beyond. Your knowledge in this area will support the full Board to make decisions around the charity and fundraising.
