Role Summary

  • Join our Textile Conservation Team on a fixed-term 15-week contract, potentially leading to part-time work.

Role Requirements

  • Practical knowledge of textiles and related materials, their degradation processes, and conservation techniques is required.
  • The ability to evaluate and solve conservation problems is critical.
  • Prior experience in costume mounting will be considered as an advantage.

The Role: We are seeking a Conservator (Textiles) to join our Textile Conservation Team on a fixed term 15-week contract, with the possibility of part-time work. The successful candidate will support the museum's loan program to other museums, engaging in varied tasks such as conservation treatments, costume mounting, and project management. This role involves practical preventive and interventive conservation on textiles, including assessment, technical examination, and advising on handling, storage, and display.

Job Requirements: Applicants must have a good practical knowledge of textiles and related materials, their degradation processes, and conservation techniques. The ability to evaluate conservation problems and develop solutions is essential. Experience in costume mounting is advantageous.
