Role Summary
- Provide oversight to projects in the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and snakebite research portfolios.
- Work collaboratively across the Infectious Disease Solutions Programme (IDSP) team and the Wellcome Trust to address gaps in global health.
- Contribute importantly to the strategic direction of the Vector Control & Therapeutics team.
- Support projects and strategies aimed at understanding and combating infectious diseases in Africa and South East Asia.
Role Requirements
- An advanced degree in the life sciences or equivalent experience is required.
- Significant expertise in Infectious Disease through work in academic or industry settings.
- Experience in research project management and grant administration.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills and excellent communication abilities are a must.
- Ability to handle competing priorities with high organizational skills is essential.

The Infectious Disease Solutions Programme (IDSP) is looking for a Senior Research Manager with experience of managing research projects particularly within global health. You will help oversee projects in our existing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and snakebite research portfolios alongside contributing to the wider portfolio of activities within the Vector Control & Therapeutics team.
We are looking for an individual with a passion for global health, to work collaboratively across the IDSP team and Wellcome to address key gaps in the global health field and support delivery of our AMR and snakebite portfolios. This is an exciting time to join Wellcome under the direction of our new CEO John-Arne Rottingen, who joined in 2024.
The Infectious Disease Solutions Programme (IDSP) is a relatively new team and as such this is an opportune time to join and help us drive forward our strategy. The team focusses on two key drivers of infectious disease – environmental change and antimicrobial resistance. We take a holistic approach combining an interest in gaining a better understanding of these drivers in order to drive the development and use of interventions.
Our current focus is on vector borne disease, cholera, TB, and AMR with a geographical focus on Africa and South South-East Asia. You will be joining a multidisciplinary, collaborative and enthusiastic team focused on supporting science to bring innovative solutions to combat infectious disease in the most affected communities.
To be successful in this role you will have: An advanced degree in the life sciences or equivalent demonstrable experience Significant expertise in Infectious Disease through work in academic, industrial, or funding settings Experience in research project management and grant administration Strong relationship management skills with diverse stakeholders Excellent communication and organizational abilities with capacity to manage competing priorities
