What will you be doing?

Charlton Toy Library is at a pivotal point in its journey. Having recently moved to a new location, we are focused on building long-term sustainability and increasing our reach in the local community. We’re now looking for new trustees to join our board and help shape the next chapter of this much-loved local charity. As a trustee, you will work with a small and committed team to provide strategic direction and hands-on support. We are especially keen to hear from individuals with experience in fundraising, events, HR, facilities, governance, or IT, but most importantly, we welcome people from all backgrounds and levels of experience who are passionate about supporting local families. You don’t need to have been a trustee before, and you don’t need to be local. The role can be carried out remotely, and full support will be provided. This is an opportunity to help a small charity thrive and make a real impact - while learning new skills and being part of a team that genuinely cares.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for people who are enthusiastic, proactive, and keen to support a small charity making a big impact. You don’t need previous board experience - we’ll support you to grow into the role. Skills in fundraising, events, HR, facilities, governance, IT, or early years are especially welcome, but not essential. We value people with a range of lived experiences and encourage applications from individuals of all ages and backgrounds. You should be:

A team player, open to collaboration and discussion Willing to get stuck in and offer hands-on support when needed Able to attend monthly evening board and strategy meetings (with flexibility to join remotely) Committed to the values of play, community, and inclusion

Most importantly, you’ll care about helping Charlton Toy Library thrive and ensuring it remains a valued part of the local community.

What difference will you make?

Your involvement will directly support children and families across Greenwich by helping the charity grow its services, strengthen its governance, and raise vital funds. As a trustee, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of Charlton Toy Library, ensuring it remains a welcoming, accessible, and much-needed resource for the community.
