Role Summary

Role Requirements

  • Part-qualified and working towards qualification (ACCA/CIMA).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, cash handling, and credit control.
  • Experience working with financial systems and data interfaces, preferably Unit4 and Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to handle concurrent priorities.
  • Confident communicator with line management experience and a proactive, flexible approach.

The Museum is currently undergoing a significant transformation, including projects to support its sustainability goals and the reinvention of some of its galleries.

The role: As a Senior Finance Officer: Income and Data, you will play a crucial role in managing the income functions of the Museum group and overseeing the financial data interfaces. This full-time, hybrid position requires you to be onsite at least 2-3 days per week and is a fixed-term contract for 18 months. Your responsibilities will include leading and managing a small team, ensuring high standards of performance and professional growth. You will provide training and guidance to team members and other junior Finance staff, offering hands-on support where necessary. Additionally, you will oversee income and cash handling functions, manage financial data interfaces, troubleshoot discrepancies, and maintain robust internal controls. You will also collaborate with departments across the Museum to provide first-class financial support and drive improvements in processes and systems.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate should be part-qualified and progressing towards qualification (ACCA/CIMA). You should have strong knowledge of accounting principles, cash handling, and credit control, as well as experience with financial systems and data interfaces, ideally including Unit 4 and Microsoft Dynamics. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. You should also be a confident communicator with line management experience and a proactive, flexible approach.
