What will you be doing?

We hope that you will become interested in becoming a trustee for Women + Health. We are looking for a trustee with fundraising experience with a charity or foundation, or comparable skills working in business. We would look for this trustee to help with/take the lead on the Management Committee with respect to our fundraising strategy, fundraising events and fundraising with corporates and high net worth individuals, as well as developing our supporter base. The trustee would participate in monthly evening fundraising subcommittee meetings which may be weekly or biweekly when preparing for a fundraising event. These meetings run up to 1.5 hours. The trustee would work together with the director of Women + Health, the Management Committee of trustees and the Fundraising Coordinator. The trustee would also participate in bimonthly general Management Committee meetings that are held in the evenings. Furthermore, the trustee would contribute to the Board's administrative tasks for up to 4 hours) per month.   We aim to have a range of different client voices on our board so would particularly welcome applications from survivors of domestic and sexual violence, people with experience of using complementary and alternative medicines, people with disabilities, carers, people with experience of counselling and therapy and/or mild to moderate mental health issues.

What are we looking for?

Fundraising with charities or foundations, or similar skills in the private sector (e.g. business development).

What difference will you make?

Our clients get a lot from our sessions: “I have been using the services of Women in Health for the last two years now. My time in long term counselling has been extremely beneficial to my overall mental health. For the first time in 54 years, I was able to talk about the abuse I suffered as a very young child and how I remained stuck in a life that rendered me mute to stimuli. Counselling also helped me to express my thoughts and feelings around the death of my younger sister, older brother, father, nephew and several other family members. I kept everything in my head and body and by the time I sought help I was so mentally drained I just couldn’t think straight. Two years on I can talk freely of my past. There has been a noticeable difference in the relationships I have with my children, extended family and friends. I feel better able to cope with most situations that arise and now communicate more effectively. I have the strength to make positive changes and look forward to the next chapter of my life. The counselling and other services on offer at Women in Health are invaluable, it offers a safe place where we can express ourselves and get the help needed to feel better and to function better.”
