Role Summary

The British Museum, one of the world's most visited museums, is excited to announce an opening for the position of Head of Community Partnerships. Located in Camden, our museum welcomed 6.5 million visitors in 2024, making it the most visited museum in the UK. We are currently undergoing a significant transformation, which includes reinventing some of our galleries and enhancing the visitor experience as part of our Masterplan.

The role: As the Head of Community Partnerships, you will provide strategic leadership in community engagement, collaborating closely with various teams within the Museum to co-develop initiatives that build trust and foster long-term relationships. You will champion participatory practice, influence decision-making, and ensure that community perspectives are integrated into our Masterplan and learning strategies.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and delivering arts, heritage, or cultural projects with community partners. You should possess strong skills in people management and project leadership, with a deep understanding of good practice in working with community partners in a museum context. Knowledge of London's diverse communities and inclusive engagement practices is essential. Excellent communication skills, strong diplomatic abilities, and sensitivity to diverse issues are crucial for building internal and external relationships.
