What will you be doing?

Sea Cadet units are individual charities that are managed and run by volunteers; the Unit Management Team (UMT) are the units trustees. The UMT is responsible for the running of the unit at a strategic level whilst ensuring good governance and compliance with regulations and the law. The primary purpose of UMT Trustees is to support the Unit chair to manage a safe, successful and sustainable Sea Cadet unit, this includes health & safety, insurance, fundraising, utilities, governance and resources/equipment. Our Unit Management Team meet in person for approx.1-2 hours on a 6 weekly/bi-monthly basis.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for new Trustees who have:

A passion for making a difference to young people and the local community Good communication skills An ability to work well with a team Previous experience in leading, governance, management or as a Trustee/governor A good understanding of how a small charity works or a willingness to learn A willingness to take the lead in agreed areas rather than to just advise

As part of our Management Team you will be key to ensuring that the unit is safe, successful and sustainable, allowing more young people to access the fantastic opportunities available to them through Sea Cadets and to develop into confident and creditworthy adults.
