This role might particularly appeal if you have personal or professional experience with learning disabilities, or a strong understanding of social exclusion and a desire to break down barriers. While an appreciation of the Christian values underpinning WAVE’s work is important, we welcome applicants of all faiths or none. Most of all, we’re looking for someone who:

Is confident chairing meetings and engaging with people of all abilities. Can act as a visible and passionate ambassador for WAVE. Has the time and commitment to contribute effectively, including attending occasional charity events.

What are we looking for?

Experience

A proven track record of leadership, with confidence in chairing meetings  Experience in charity governance and working with, or as part of, a Board of Trustees. Confidence in external representation.

Knowledge and skills

Strong leadership skills, with the ability to bring people together and inspire collaborative working. Confident in oversight of charity budgets and fundraising  A solid grasp of charity governance requirements and regulatory responsibilities.

What difference will you make?

We’re a small charity with big ambitions to see communities transformed through enjoyable engagement with WAVE groups and events. Your leadership will help WAVE grow in an effective, sustainable way, enabling more inclusive, mixed-ability places, where people with and without learning disabilities can connect, build confidence, and form friendships.  In a time of increasing social isolation, this work has never been more important.
