What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities

Support the Museum Manager to recruit volunteers, working with staff and other directors to assess what volunteer roles are required; Support the Museum Manager to develop a volunteer induction platform for welcoming new volunteers; Stay in regular contact with volunteers, to ensure that volunteers feel included and critical to the Trust; Regularly attend, in person, the informal Friday volunteer coffee and cake mornings; Develop an evaluation scheme so that volunteers are able to feedback and identify any areas of concern; Manage recruitment, interview process and hiring of new staff and directors; Serve as a link between the board and its employees and volunteers; Plan, direct and co-ordinate the HR functions of the Trust; Review and ensure that HR and Volunteer Policies and Practices support the advancement of the Trust’s strategic plans and objectives; Contribute in a collaborative manner to ensure productive discussion and debate at board level; Share Board responsibilities for identifying and implementing strategic direction, consistent with the Trust’s ambitions; Act as an effective ambassador for the Trust and contribute to successful stakeholder relationships.

What are we looking for?

Key Attributes

Experience in volunteer management/co-ordination; Leadership and communication skills; Motivator and able to coach volunteers and staff; Knowledge of DBS legislation; Knowledge or experience of employment law; Understand and commit to the principles of involving volunteers; Willingness and ability to devote the necessary time and effort to the role.
