What will you be doing?

The current Board is five-strong with a range of experience and skills. We are looking for trustees in two separate areas, one with  excellent skills with people, preferably with HR expertise, to advise and support us and our General Manager in this area. We would also benefit from a wider knowledge of business development and fundraising, possibly including the field of catering as we are considering taking over our cafe, currently run by an outside operator.  We have made significant progress over recent years, developing our sites and expanding our income streams, e.g. by diversifying further into retail (with three off-site shops set up within the last year) and our staffing complement has increased considerably.  We have the usual main roles on the Board, including of course Chair and Vice-Chair but also Treasurer and Secretary. However, the current Chair has been a trustee for ten years and is looking for someone with the necessary skills, experience and interest, to take this role on at some point (current trustees preferring, at present, not to take on this role). This is not, however, a necessary condition for joining the Board and newcomers to the role of trustee are more than welcome. 

What are we looking for?

No one person can have all of the expertise we would like but business development is always useful for us, as is a sound grounding in HR.  Of value to us are many of the areas of expertise ticked in the column below, however, and anyone interested in assisting the T.A.S. Board outside of the HR and Business areas mentioned would be welcome to talk to us and suggest how you might help us to consolidate and to improve on the service we offer to animals in need and the people who care for and about them.

What difference will you make?

In either role, whether HR or Business Development, you will help to benefit future animals in need of our support and also the people who support them. We have ideas for further improvements - such as expansion of  our vet services, improved accommodation for animals, more customer -friendly facilities and service for visitors to both sites and diversification of our income streams. These are just some of the possibilities that we aim for and with focussed help, they are achievable. Ideas, advice and at times some hands-on support for the people.
