What will you be doing?
We are seeking a Bookkeeping Financial Assistant to join our team on a voluntary, remote basis. In this role, you will assist with maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting the organisation's budgeting and financial planning efforts. Your work will ensure that BioSci Toolkit operates with financial clarity and integrity, enabling us to continue delivering impactful science education initiatives. Key Responsibilities
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate financial records, including tracking income, expenses, and donations. Invoice & Receipt Management: Process invoices, receipts, and payments, ensuring they are properly documented and stored. Bank Reconciliation: Assist with reconciling bank statements and ensure accurate transaction records. Budgeting & Reporting Support: Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports and help track budget performance. Expense Management: Review and categorise expenses to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines. General Financial Administration: Assist in preparing financial documents for audits or funding applications.
What are we looking for?
Essential Skills & Experience
Bookkeeping Experience: Familiarity with basic bookkeeping tasks or prior experience in a finance-related role. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in managing financial records and processing transactions. IT Proficiency: Comfortable using spreadsheet software (Excel or Google Sheets) and accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero). Communication Skills: Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively. Time Management: Ability to manage and prioritise tasks efficiently within the allocated weekly hours.
Desirable Skills
Non-Profit or CIC Experience: Familiarity with the financial needs and operations of non-profit organisations or Community Interest Companies (CICs). Financial Reporting: Experience preparing financial reports or supporting audits is an advantage. Remote Work Experience: Comfort with remote working and using digital tools for collaboration.
