Vision Our vision is for a future where fewer people die by suicide. Mission We will reach this vision by providing a listening service to callers through the phone, email and in person. As an affiliated charity to the Samaritans central charity, we will be an engaged part of the wider work of Samaritans, as well as being an active part of our local community support. We will raise awareness of the work of Samaritans to those who may need support and to the public and other organisations. Values We share the values of the Samaritans central charity:
Listening - Exploring feelings alleviates distress and helps people to reach a better understanding of their situation and the options open to them. Confidentiality - If people feel safe, they are more likely to be open about their feelings. Non-judgemental - We want people to be able to talk to us without fear of prejudice or rejection. People making their own decisions - We believe that people have the right to find their own solution and that telling people what to do takes responsibility away from them.
