Volunteer Guess My Job - in-school careers inspiration event - STEM careers - Swindon

What will you be doing?

This event will take place at The Deanery CE Academy, Peglars Way, Wichelstowe, Swindon, SN1 7DA. Wednesday 14th May 2025, 10:00am-12:30pm. Business Volunteers from STEM related job roles are asked a number of questions, to which they can only answer Yes or No, so the students can ‘guess their job’ in a given time. They then spend a few more minutes with the students answering questions in more detail about what they do. Business Volunteers will receive a full briefing prior to the event and also, a briefing on the morning of the event. No advance preparation is needed.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers who are primarily interested in inspiring young people and sharing experience and knowledge. Your work related experience is invaluable to young people.  Our volunteers are from a wide variety of backgrounds, career sectors and roles. Some are retired and bring a lifetime of work-related skills.  We would love to have you onboard if you are positive, enthusiastic and encouraging.

What difference will you make?

The young people that we work with are curious and want to know more about the world around them, and having external people in to talk about the future is extremely beneficial. They are keen to hear from you about the world of work. Your experience and knowledge will motivate and inspire them to think about their future and give them confidence in their abilities. Our Business Ambassadors find the events incredibly rewarding. Last year, 100% of our volunteer Business Ambassadors wanted to attend another event!
