What will you be doing?

Would you like to become a trustee of a charity-in-formation rooted in the theme of belonging? Are you passionate about community food growing, ecological regeneration, and land-based projects that centre care, creativity and connection? Where the Rivers Meet is entering its first 12-month pilot phase, focused in London with occasional events across the UK. Our work sits at the intersection of social and ecological regeneration - supporting communities to imagine and grow more connected, just and enduring futures. Alongside this, we are also developing a range of additional projects that build on our core principles of confluence – creating spaces of encounter across disciplines, cultures, and geographies.  We're seeking two further trustees who share our values and can help guide our governance, grow our partnerships, and support our vision. We’re especially keen to hear from people with experience in:

Treasurer/financial oversight - to ensure the charity’s financial health by reviewing budgets and reports, supporting sound decision-making, and ensuring compliance with financial responsibilities. Governance experience - we're also looking for a trustee with prior charity governance experience who can help guide and support good practice around reporting and compliance, including the preparation and submission of the annual report to the Charity Commission..

Trustees are appointed for an initial two to four-year term. Responsibilities include:

Helping shape strategic direction Supporting legal and governance requirements Contributing insight and encouragement Championing our funding journey Attending 4–6 meetings per year and contributing 4–6 hours per month

As a trustee, you'll gain experience in charity leadership, develop your skills, and be part of a growing community committed to regeneration, relationship and imaginative change.  We value diverse perspectives and are committed to access and inclusion throughout this process. If you have access needs or would like a conversation about the role, contact us. We’ll be reviewing applications on a rolling basis and appointing as soon as we find the right fit, so we encourage you to apply early.

What are we looking for?

We are in the process of registering as a charity and are seeking trustees who share our vision - to help guide our governance, grow our partnerships, and support our commitment to ecological learning, community building, and cultural regeneration. This is a chance to help shape an ambitious new initiative from the ground up. There will also be an advisory membership - a broader network of contributors, practitioners and thought-partners - to inform the work and keep it grounded in practice and diverse lived experience. We are looking for trustees who bring experience in:

Charity governance and compliance Accounting and financial oversight Fundraising and development

We also welcome trustees who are actively engaged in - or have a strong interest in - the themes at the heart of our work: belonging, ancestral knowledge, our shared histories, ecological regeneration and imaginative futures. What the Role Involves

Helping to shape the strategic direction of Where the Rivers Meet Supporting us to meet our legal duties as we move toward registered charity status Providing insight, oversight, and encouragement as we grow Contributing to our funding journey – whether through direct involvement or by championing our aims Dedicating approximately four to six hours per month to trustee responsibilities Attending four to six meetings a year (online or in person) Taking part in occasional sub-groups or informal gatherings

As we’re currently in the formation phase, there may be a slightly greater time commitment at the start – particularly as we prepare our charity registration and build our foundations. That said, we don’t expect every trustee to be involved in every area; we value a range of contributions and levels of involvement. We understand that availability and capacity can vary, and we aim to be flexible and supportive in accommodating different needs and circumstances. What difference will you make?

We are in the process of registering as a charity and are seeking trustees who share our vision - to help guide our governance, grow our partnerships, and support our commitment to ecological learning, community building, and cultural regeneration. This is a chance to help shape an ambitious new initiative from the ground up. We’re currently looking to fill two key roles:– One trustee with financial oversight to help ensure our long-term sustainability– One trustee with prior board experience who can support core governance responsibilities, including our annual reporting You don’t need to have all the answers – but if you believe in the power of collective imagination and want to support a project rooted in care, creativity and connection, we’d love to hear from you.
