Volunteer Photographer

What will you be doing?

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled volunteer photographer to capture the key moments of our wellbeing event on 19th May, which focuses on supporting survivors of human trafficking. This role is vital in documenting the event's impact and ensuring that the stories and experiences of the attendees are respectfully captured for future use, such as in promotional materials, social media, and press releases.   Your main responsibility will be to discreetly and sensitively photograph the atmosphere, interactions, and activities of the event, including wellness activities, group discussions, and special moments. It's important that you approach this task with a trauma-informed mindset, capturing images in a way that respects the privacy and dignity of the survivors. The goal is to document the healing and empowerment that takes place, while being mindful of the emotional sensitivities of the participants. Your photographs will help showcase how survivors engage with one another and the support provided, contributing to the ongoing work of the foundation.   You will collaborate closely with the event coordinator and the ROMILDAMOR Foundations communication team to ensure the photos reflect the events mission and tone. The images will be used in a variety of contexts, from social media to fundraising campaigns, and will help raise awareness about the foundations important work.   While your approach should be subtle and respectful, there is room for creative expression in how you capture the event. You will have the freedom to explore different perspectives, lighting, and angles to document the healing journey while maintaining a trauma-sensitive approach. The photographs you take will highlight themes of empowerment, community, and wellbeing, and will help amplify the stories of the individuals the foundation serves.   You will be provided with space and time to take photos and will need to bring your own camera equipment. The event is designed to be a safe, supportive environment, and we ask that you use your discretion to ensure the dignity and comfort of all attendees is prioritized.   Your work as a photographer will have a lasting impact by visually documenting the event and sharing the powerful stories of survivors. Through your compassionate and respectful photography, you will help amplify the foundations message and continue to raise awareness for those affected by human trafficking.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a volunteer photographer with a strong understanding of trauma-informed photography practices and experience in capturing events sensitively. The ideal candidate will have experience working in environments where discretion, respect, and empathy are paramount, especially when documenting vulnerable individuals. This role requires an understanding of how to balance creative expression with the need to ensure the dignity and privacy of participants at all times.   You should have a proven track record in event photography, with a portfolio that demonstrates your ability to capture powerful moments while maintaining a respectful and non-intrusive approach. Experience in photographing wellness events, support services, or any trauma-related work would be highly beneficial.   In addition to technical skills, such as proficiency in using professional camera equipment and post-production software, the photographer should be highly adaptable, able to work discreetly in a live event setting, and mindful of the emotional sensitivities of the attendees. Since this event focuses on the wellbeing of survivors of human trafficking, its important that the photographer is attuned to the challenges faced by survivors and understands how to approach each photo opportunity with care and respect.   The volunteer photographer must also have excellent communication skills, as you will work closely with the event coordinator and other team members to understand the event’s tone, priorities, and visual style. While we want you to bring your creative vision to the role, it is important that you stay aligned with the event’s core mission and values, ensuring that your work supports the foundation’s objectives.   Flexibility is important, as the event may include a variety of activities and moments that need to be captured in different settings. Your ability to work under pressure, handle multiple shots or angles, and produce high-quality results on the spot will be critical to the success of this role. It is essential that you maintain a positive attitude and be open to feedback, working collaboratively with other volunteers.
