The European Space Agency is seeking a Junior Professional in AI and Data Science. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading space organisation and contribute to the development of future space missions.

The Role: As a Junior Professional, you will be working in the Future Engineering Division, specifically in the AI and Data Science Section. Your role will involve demonstrating the feasibility and advantages of the application of artificial intelligence technologies in space systems. This includes working on onboard autonomy, mission design and engineering, and insights from mission data. You will use existing laboratory facilities and potentially the ESA Space High-Performance Computer to demonstrate appropriate technologies.

Job Requirements: Candidates should have a master's degree in computer science or a related discipline and between two and three years of professional experience. Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning frameworks, Big Data frameworks, and knowledge of several AI techniques and technologies is required. Knowledge of space systems and potential applications and awareness of space standards is also necessary.

During your four-year assignment, you will be actively working and learning on the job and will benefit from valuable mobility and developmental opportunities that will prepare you for a successful career at ESA. Subject to performance, it is therefore the intention to offer you an indefinite contract which will start at the end of the four years.

Application Details: Applicants must be eligible to access information, technology, and hardware which is subject to European or US export control. Successful candidates will need to undergo basic screening before appointment, which will be conducted by an external background screening service, in compliance with the European Space Agency's security procedures.

Additional Information: Recruitment will take place at the A1 grade. At the end of the fourth year and if you are offered an indefinite contract at the end of your Junior Professional assignment, you will be upgraded to the A2 grade. Developmental assignments form an integral part of the JP Programme and may entail a temporary relocation to another ESA establishment or other location.
