The British Museum is seeking a Head of Pictorial Art Conservation for East Asian art, focusing on paper and silk materials. This role is a part-time position, working three days per week (Monday to Wednesday) and offers the option for occasional work from home. As a leader in one of the world's most respected specialist conservation teams, you will manage and provide strategic direction for the conservation of the Museum's exceptional Asian art collections.

The role: You will be responsible for leading the Hirayama Studio, working with an international team to conserve East Asian art using both traditional and modern techniques. Key responsibilities include leading the operational plan for conservation in alignment with the Museum's strategies, jointly managing the paper conservation team, setting high standards for conservation practice, and managing resources and budgets. You will also represent the Museum nationally and internationally, contributing to its commercial activities.
