Your Day to Day
As Head of People & Culture, you will lead people strategy and culture at Work.Life.
Your mission will be to shape how we engage, grow, and enable every team member to thrive.
This is a senior leadership role that blends strategy with execution. You will be deeply connected to the day-to-day while building the systems and capability we need to grow as a high performing and scalable business with mission at its core.
You will work closely with the CEO, COO and senior leadership peers as a trusted partner and be the primary voice and leader on all things people, culture, and leadership.
In particular you will focus on engaging our membership and support teams, championing an ownership culture that is well aligned to our next stage of growth; and on building a robust, human-centred people infrastructure that supports our mission to make work lives happier – for our own team, and for the members we serve.
We’ve outlined broad priorities below, but we’re looking for someone who is excited to bring their own thinking, challenge our assumptions, and help define the path forward.
Key Responsibilities
Culture and Engagement Leadership
• Shape a culture that aligns to our mission at both strategic and day-to-day levels, with a particular emphasis on ownership and autonomy.
• Build trust and engagement across Membership and Support teams through clear communication, rituals, and performance clarity.
• Deliver a people experience reflecting our values, including feedback, recognition, and connection.
• Lead wellbeing, inclusion, and belonging efforts that enable performance.
• Act as a connector across teams and levels, building strong listening and feedback loops.
Leadership and Organisational Development
• Partner with the CEO and COO to build leadership capability across the business.
• Coach and challenge senior leaders to lead effectively and model values.
• Design and implement succession, career development, and internal mobility frameworks.
• Upskill managers to confidently lead, take ownership, and drive growth.
• Develop training and development initiatives that support career progression and skills growth.
People Strategy and Execution
• Translate business priorities into a practical roadmap including talent, performance, engagement, and DEI.
• Be confident delivering against multiple priorities across this roadmap, with an emphasis on implementation. We’re looking for someone who makes it happen.
• Ensure hiring, promotion, and structural change align with our cultural goals.
• Relaunch wellbeing strategies with measurable outcomes and uptake.
People Operations and Compliance
• Ensure people systems are scalable, with processes and frameworks supporting the full employee lifecycle both now and as we grow.
• Oversee efficient and people-friendly HR operations via the People & Talent Manager.
• Strengthen performance reviews, onboarding, compensation, and progression systems.
• Maintain compliant, clear, and accessible HR policies and documentation.
How You’ll Measure Success
You’ll work with the COO and leadership team to define what success looks like, which may include:
• Trust, belonging and positive sentiment across our team.
• Clarity and consistency in performance, feedback and progression.
• Leadership engagement and capability at all levels.
• Delivery of people initiatives that reflect both business priorities and cultural intent.
• Evidence of a connected, performing, and values-aligned team experience.
Skills, Traits and Competencies
• You take ownership – accountable for outcomes, not just tasks.
• You have a strong bias for action – progress over perfection.
• You balance quality with delivery – you know when pace matters.
• You read people well – high EQ and adaptive communication.
• You’re emotionally resilient – bring calm and clarity under pressure.
• You think commercially – tie people strategy to business outcomes.
• You love to build and simplify – create systems that scale without friction.
• You’re a lifelong learner – curious, adaptive, growth-minded.
• You’re a trusted partner to leadership – challenge and support in equal measure.
Our Values
• Own It – You take responsibility and act like an owner.
• It’s Personal – Human connection is at the heart of everything we do.
• Don’t Stop At Good – We're always improving, always growing.
• Team 1st – We win together, with humility and collaboration.
