The Role The V&A is pleased to announce a new doctoral placement opportunity for the 2025–2026 academic year. As part of our commitment to supporting early-career researchers, the V&A offers a range of doctoral placements designed in collaboration with museum staff. These placements provide PhD students the opportunity to contribute to live research projects while gaining hands-on experience with archives, cataloguing, and conservation practices.
This placement will focus on the cataloguing and preservation of a contemporary paper-based music archive acquired by the V&A in 2019. Documenting the professional career of a prominent British artist, the archive includes photographs, posters, scrapbooks, project files, correspondence, tour materials, administrative papers, and promotional items.
