Experiencing dynamic growth, the V&A is not only a hub of artistic and historical treasures, but also a forward-looking institution dedicated to constant learning and innovation.
As a doctoral student, you would have the chance to directly contribute to research projects and get involved with the museum's collection, cataloguing, and accessibility-related practices. Specifically, your placement would focus on enhancing the cataloguing practices at Young V&A, working with functional, sensory, and interactive objects that offer unique challenges in representation and preservation.
**Role Requirements** - This opportunity is open to those pursuing a PhD and those interested in having hands-on experiences in a museum setting.
**Application Process Details** - The application deadline is set for Friday, 30 May 2025. Interviews will subsequently be held on 5th June and 12th June.

The Role The V&A is pleased to announce a new doctoral placement opportunity for the 2025–2026 academic year. Applications close on Friday 30 May 2025. As part of our commitment to supporting early-career researchers, the V&A offers a range of doctoral placements designed in collaboration with museum staff. These placements provide PhD students with the opportunity to contribute to live research projects while gaining hands-on experience with museum collections, cataloguing, and accessibility-focused practice.

This placement will support the expansion of cataloguing practices at Young V&A to enhance engagement with functional, sensory, and interactive objects in the collection. Many of these items—such as cassette tapes, video games, musical toys, or battery-powered devices—are difficult to represent in traditional museum records and are at risk of degradation over time.

The Company The Company has experienced unprecedented growth over the past few years. We have a vast number of employees, and provide support to clients from all over the country.
