Role Summary

  • Lead day-to-day fundraising operations and manage a Business Development team.
  • Ensure production of high-quality proposals and excellent grant stewardship.
  • Implement fundraising systems of high standard.
  • Drive resource mobilisation to accelerate Fresh Life’s mission and expansion.
  • Manage end-to-end proposal development process and offer strategic advice to the BD team.
  • Oversee contracts, grant deals and direct internal alignment on fundraising strategies.
  • Conduct funder and partner liaisons, team management, and improve systems and processes.

Role Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in fundraising, partnerships or business development in the development or social enterprise sector.
  • Demonstrated success leading proposal development and managing high-performing teams.
  • Proven track record in engaging institutional funders and philanthropic donors.
  • High level of organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with fundraising systems, CRM platforms, and donor reporting tools.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Development, Business, Economics, or a related field is preferable.

Fresh Life is an award-winning social enterprise dedicated to transforming urban sanitation in fast growing cities in Africa. We are a founding partner of The Sanergy Collaborative and operate in Nairobi, Kisumu, Eldoret, and Lusaka, Zambia. Our mission is to provide non-sewered, end-to-end sanitation solutions that ensure urban residents living in informal settlements can access dignified sanitation services.

As the Fundraising General Manager, you will lead Fresh Life’s day-to-day fundraising operations and manage a dynamic Business Development team to meet ambitious institutional fundraising targets. Your focus will be on ensuring the delivery of high-quality proposals, excellent grant stewardship, and implementation of best-in-class fundraising systems. You will play a critical role in driving resource mobilisation to support Fresh Life’s mission and scale.

Your duties and responsibilities will include overseeing end-to-end proposal development processes, providing strategic guidance to the BD team, reviewing contracts and grant agreements, and supporting internal alignment on fundraising strategies. You will also be responsible for funder and partner engagement, team management and capacity building, and systems and process improvement.

To qualify for this role, you should have 5–7 years of experience in fundraising, partnerships, or business development within the development or social enterprise sector. You should have demonstrated experience managing high-performing teams and leading proposal development. A proven track record engaging institutional funders and philanthropic donors is required. Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential, as is familiarity with fundraising systems, CRM platforms, and donor reporting tools. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Development, Business, Economics, or related field is preferred.
