What will you be doing?
We need your help! The Airship Heritage Trust is a small, friendly organisation with a passion for the history of a little-known subject which is often overlooked by books and museums in general, and that's the importance of British airships in the role of aviation. To foster and promote the history of airships to the public, is our primary objective. We do this with our website, backed up with our inhouse magazine Dirigible, and giving talks and lectures. The problem: Our website was set up in the creaking early days of the internet, namely 1998 and using some state-of-the-art software at the time, namely Dreamweaver (don't laugh) was created and maintained. We've been managing and maintaining it ever since, as it still works! We've recently been given the content of another website which was shut down due to difficulties in maintaining it, and would like to incorporate this additional information in to our own. The project we have is two-fold: 1. Update the existing website to a new and easy-to-manage software or platform 2. Incorporate the new content and additional research content going forward. We are always looking scan documents from our archive and add them to the website, and so this will be adding to the materials available to the public online.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a good communicator who can help guide us in the transition from old technology to new. We're open to ideas and so trust the expertise and experience you'll bring. We know these jobs can be tough an so will dedicate time and energy in helping answer your questions in working with us. Above all we want it to be fun.
What difference will you make?
Making an easy-to-maintain site will allow us to add and share more content online with the public.
