What will you be doing?

Partnering for Purpose CIC is looking for an experienced Strategic Development Volunteer to work closely with our founder to shape and drive our organisational growth strategy during our start-up phase. We are particularly keen to hear from volunteers with existing experience in one or more of the following areas:

Strategic development and planning: Supporting the creation of strategic roadmaps, helping prioritise goals, and defining key outcomes and success measures. Business development / sales: Identifying growth opportunities, partnership pathways, and new service offerings aligned with our mission and market Fundraising strategy: Advising on income diversification, fundraising campaigns, grant opportunities, and funder relationship-building. Project / programme management: Helping to shape scalable delivery models, and aligning projects with strategic goals and community outcomes. Market research: Analysing the landscape of socially trading organisations and purpose-led SMEs in our target regions to inform service development and outreach.

This is a key opportunity to influence the strategic direction of a growing social enterprise. You will collaborate to:

Refine our Theory of Change and growth strategy. Explore earned-income models and contracting opportunities. Identify market gaps, trends, and service design needs. Support business plan development and funding applications. Help prioritise and structure early-phase projects.

What are we looking for?

Essential: working with a start-up non-profit organisation Person Specification:

Proven track record in business strategy, social enterprise development, or nonprofit consultancy. Analytical thinking, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills. Comfortable working with ambiguity and bringing structure to early-stage development. A working knowledge of the third sector landscape in the UK is desirable. Experience with start-ups or community interest companies is a bonus.

What difference will you make?

You will play a critical role in shaping the future of a high-potential social enterprise at a formative stage. By supporting our strategic development, you’ll directly enable us to provide stronger infrastructure and income-generation support to local organisations working on the frontlines of community impact. Your work will contribute to a more resilient and effective third sector in regions facing complex social and economic challenges, helping ensure that micro and small organisations can grow, sustain their mission, and better serve their beneficiaries.
