What will you be doing?
Joining our Board as Chair of Trustees means providing leadership and direction to an enthusiastic Board and a small but dedicated team of employees and volunteers representing our organisation, all passionately believing in our cause. Our Board currently meets every 2 months, for 2 hours, in online/in Swindon.
What are we looking for?
For this role it’s vital that you have leadership experience, enthusiasm for Swindon and for our cause in welcoming asylum seekers, refugees and others to our town, and good networks and connections in the local area. The job will be much easier if you’ve some experience with Charity Governance. Of course we want you to be as committed to our cause as we are, and we hope you’ll check out our website to see all the good stuff we’ve done already. It also helps if you are imaginative, open to suggestion, relaxed and efficient, and can see into the future...
What difference will you make?
The current membership of our Board is diverse in age and experience, but united by commitment to the cause. We have had a period where many established Board members from our inception in 2016 reached the end of their Trustee terms so we are looking for new voices to join us. We are focusing on a longer term development plan, and updating clear policies and procedures for good governance. We currently have an interium Chair and we are looking for need an experienced (or passionate) person to help us make the best of what we have built up, in order to achieve our charitable goals to welcome everyone to our town, focussing on refugees and asylum seekers in particular.
