ISSOS is an international summer school that offers a balanced summer program of academia, fun and culture for 13–18 year olds from over 80 nationalities, at the University of St Andrews, Cambridge and Yale universities.
The role: As a Creative Writing Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching a class of international students for 3 hours per day, every weekday morning for the duration of the 3-week programme. You will be creating and executing interesting and engaging lesson plans, taking part in evening activities, ensuring students are safe and happy at all times, and contributing a short article for our summer magazine, The ISSOS Times.
Job requirements: Previous teaching experience is essential, with experience in teaching international students preferred. You must have strong knowledge and skills in a variety of writing techniques and be fluent in English. You must either be a UK or a US citizen, or have the legal right to work in the country you are applying for a role in. Please note that we cannot sponsor visas for working in the UK.
Benefits: We provide accommodation in all locations for all staff. Meals are provided in the halls of residence once students arrive, however, staff are responsible for their meals during Orientation. Travel reimbursements and any finders’ fees are paid separately.
Application details: Any nationality is welcome to apply for this role as we are able to provide sponsorship through the J1 visa. Visa numbers are limited, therefore we strongly encourage US citizens and those who have the right to work in the US to apply for these roles.
Additional information: All of our staff must pass a full criminal background check. All staff are required to be on duty (on a rota basis) for evening programmes, activities, day trips and arrival/departure days.
