What will you be doing?

Are you a registered healthcare professional passionate about community health, clinical excellence, and empowering others? St John Ambulance in Kent is seeking a dedicated County Clinical Lead to help shape and deliver high-quality, equitable care across the county. As County Clinical Lead, you’ll play a key role in supporting our volunteers, advising on clinical standards, and strengthening local health outcomes—particularly in underserved communities. This is a unique opportunity to use your skills and leadership to drive meaningful social impact while supporting the development of other healthcare professionals. What you’ll do: 

Provide expert clinical leadership and guidance across Kent to ensure care meets national standards. Support and mentor healthcare professionals and volunteers delivering services in the community. Advise the County Commissioner and County Council Team on clinical matters and strategy. Contribute to national clinical standards through the St John Clinical Community of Practice. Help improve public health, mental health, and health equity across Kent. Lead on governance, education, and assurance to ensure safe, ethical, and inclusive care.

What you’ll bring:

Current registration as a healthcare professional (GMC, NMC, or HCPC) with 3+ years’ post-registration experience. Strong leadership and team collaboration skills. A passion for supporting community-based care and reducing health inequalities. Excellent communication and a willingness to engage with healthcare networks and local partners. Experience in mentoring, governance, or clinical leadership is helpful—but we’ll support your development in these areas.

Time commitment: Approx. 5 hours per week, with flexible arrangements available (including role sharing or remote involvement). This is a 3-year volunteer term, with regular reviews to support your needs. What we offer:

Your collaboration with County leadership, Operations, and Quality & Assurance teams will strengthen systems and ensure we work cohesively across the organisation. Ultimately, your work will touch every aspect of our mission—reducing health disparities, supporting mental health, and strengthening the resilience of Kent’s health landscape through inclusive, ethical, and sustainable clinical leadership.
