About the role 

As a Data Engineer at Fanalysis, you'll be instrumental in building the data infrastructure that powers our insights and drives product decisions. You'll construct robust analytics systems to understand how passionate football fans engage with our platform, while simultaneously architecting a cutting-edge data platform that scales with our growth. Your work will directly influence how we enhance the fan experience and build features that truly resonate with our community.

Responsibilities

  • Developing a scalable data platform architecture that supports real-time and batch processing
  • Designing and implementing comprehensive product analytics systems for our mobile app and website
  • Building ETL/ELT pipelines to collect, process, and transform data from multiple sources
  • Creating data models and schemas that enable efficient querying and reporting
  • Building custom dashboards and APIs to visualize and serve processed data
  • Implementing data quality monitoring and validation frameworks
  • Collaborating with product and engineering teams to define key metrics and tracking requirements
  • Building automated reporting dashboards and analytics tools for stakeholders
  • Optimizing data storage and retrieval systems for performance and cost-effectiveness
  • Establishing data governance practices and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations
  • Working with sports data feeds and external APIs to enrich our platform capabilities
  • Contributing to data-driven decision making across product development
  • Maintaining and monitoring data infrastructure to ensure reliability and uptime

About You

  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering or related field
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with modern data warehousing solutions
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS preferred - Redshift, S3, Glue, Kinesis)
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java
  • Hands-on experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, or similar)
  • Experience with product analytics tools and event tracking implementation
  • Knowledge of both relational and NoSQL databases
  • Understanding of data modeling concepts and dimensional modeling
  • Experience with real-time streaming data processing (such as Kafka)
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, or similar)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to data accuracy
  • Experience working with large datasets and optimizing query performance
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and best practices
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with sports data or fan engagement analytics is a plus, along with excitement about the possibilities that fan-led datasets can unlock

This is a full-time role based in London. Our office is in Soho and we believe in the benefits of working together, so ideally you’d be able to join us in the office at least 3 days a week.
