What will you be doing?

Why is this important? As part of our ongoing localisation strategy, we want to build up communications capacity within our team in Rwanda. Our goal is for the team to be able to independently share the impact of their work, engage supporters, and manage digital channels without relying heavily on UK-based volunteers. That’s where you come in! What would you be doing? We’re looking for someone with experience in digital communications, content strategy, or social media campaigning who would be excited to mentor and co-manage a junior staff member based in Rwanda. You will support them to create strong, authentic, and locally driven digital content. You’d also join the UK Board of Trustees of Children of Rwanda and contribute to our overall strategic direction, advise the board on how to grow our audience and enhance supporter engagement through social media, newsletters, and our website.

What are we looking for?

We’re seeking a motivated and collaborative marketing professional with experience in digital content, social media, or nonprofit marketing. You should be excited about mentoring others and open to working across cultures. Experience training or supporting others in a marketing role would be a huge bonus!

What difference will you make?

We strongly believe that storytelling and communication should come from the people closest to the projects. By transferring this power and capacity to our Rwandan team, we help ensure more authentic and equitable representation. Building in-country marketing capability is a key part of making our NGO more community-led and self-sufficient. By helping us achieve this milestone in our localisation strategy, you’ll contribute to a more equitable, community-led model of international development. You'll also be helping amplify the voices of our Rwandan team and the communities we serve.
