What will you be doing?
What Will You Be Doing? This is an extraordinary time to join Kairos. We are in the process of finalising our next five-year strategy (2025–2030), and we need bold, strategic thinkers around the table to drive it forward. While navigating an uncertain funding landscape, we're focused on diversifying income streams, building a community of supporters, and ensuring we can clearly evidence our impact. We're also working toward a transformative goal: securing our own premises to create a dedicated, women-only hub — a safe, empowering space for support, connection, and community. As a Trustee, you’ll work closely with the CEO and fellow Board members to drive the strategic direction of Kairos. You won’t be involved in operational delivery — your role is high-level, future-focused, and critical to the organisation’s long-term sustainability and influence. You’ll help us:
Strengthen our voice and reputation as experts and specialist, best practice providers in our field. Build meaningful alliances and open doors to new supporters, networks, and funders. Ensure that every decision we make upholds our feminist values, serves our community of women, and sustains our impact for the long term.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Shaping and scrutinising strategy, ensuring it is ambitious, values-driven, and rooted in the needs of the women we serve. Providing strong financial and legal oversight to ensure the charity remains compliant, accountable and sustainable. Supporting the CEO as a critical friend and strategic partner — offering challenge, solidarity, and guidance. Bringing influence, credibility, and connections to raise our profile and help us open new doors — locally, regionally, and nationally. Helping Kairos remain adaptive, resilient and forward-thinking in a fast-changing political, economic and social climate. Championing good governance, equity, and collaborative leadership at every level.
What are we looking for?
Who We’re Looking For We're looking for strategic, courageous, and connected women who want to contribute to something meaningful and transformational. You don't need to have previous Board experience — we’ll support you to grow into the role - but you must be ready to think big, act boldly, and lead with integrity. We are especially interested in hearing from women with skills, networks, or experience in:
Fundraising, philanthropy, and income diversification Marketing, PR, media, or digital communications Community organising and civic engagement Property or facilities management (especially related to women’s hubs or trauma-informed spaces) Data, impact, monitoring and evaluation Strategic leadership in related fields i.e. VAWG, criminal justice, homelessness, children and families, or drug and alcohol services
Lived Experience and Inclusion The voices of women with lived experience are centred in everything we do. We encourage lived experience leadership across the whole organisation — including at Board level. We want our Board to reflect the diversity of the women we support. We actively encourage applications from Black, minoritised and migrant women; women with disabilities; lesbian and bisexual women; and working-class women. You will be welcomed, supported and respected in a culture that values authenticity, honesty and sisterhood. Please note: Trustee roles are open to women only, as permitted under the Equality Act 2010 (Schedule 9, Part 1, GOR). What You’ll Bring:
A deep commitment to feminist values and Kairos’ mission Strategic vision and independent thinking Sound judgement and a collaborative spirit Courage to speak up, challenge norms, and drive progress An understanding (or willingness to learn) about good governance and the legal duties of a Trustee Time, energy and passion to help shape a stronger, bolder future for Kairos
All Kairos Trustees uphold the seven Nolan principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. This is Your Invitation If you're ready to step into a leadership role that is challenging, inspiring and deeply rewarding — where you’ll help transform women’s lives and fight for a better world — we want to hear from you.
What difference will you make?
What Difference Will You Make? Kairos changes women’s lives. And you can help lead that change. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that women experiencing some of the harshest injustices in our society are not only supported to survive — but empowered to build free and fulfilling lives. At the same time, you’ll be shaping the long-term future of a powerful feminist organisation that refuses to stay silent about the structural violence that women face. You’ll help us build a platform for our expertise, amplify the voices of marginalised women, and influence the wider systems that continue to fail them. This is about transforming lives now — and building a better future for women in Coventry and beyond. #BecauseEveryWomanMatters
