Role Summary

Ariane 6 LEAP MQO Project Manager, Ariane 6 Programmes, Ariane Programme, Directorate of Space Transportation.
The role: Under the direct authority of the Ariane 6 Programmes Manager, you will be in charge of the Ariane 6 MQO (Maintain Qualification Opérationnelle – Maintenance of Operational Qualification) within the LEAP (Launcher Exploitation Accompaniment Programme). With the objective of ensuring successful ramp-up and continuity of Ariane 6 exploitation, you will manage, as part of the Ariane Integrated Programme Team, the Ariane 6 MQO. Your duties will include: establishing and keeping up to date the project plan for the Ariane 6 MQO; setting up the management and contractual scheme for the implementation of the Ariane 6 MQO; achieving accompaniment objectives, ensuring the successful ramp-up and continuity of Ariane 6 exploitation within the allocated financial envelope and in accordance with geo-return rules, taking into account lessons learned from development and past Ariane exploitation; and risk analysis resulting from the exploitation monitoring to steer Ariane 6 MQO activities; preparing procurement actions, conducting negotiations and managing the industrial contracts relating to procurement under your responsibility; setting up and managing the Ariane 6 MQO contract(s), including with ArianeGroup and CNES; preparing necessary files for participating States’ subscriptions at the Council meeting at ministerial level and implementing their decisions; reporting internally and to participating States on Ariane 6 MQO; defining the resources needed to implement the Ariane 6 MQO, including the assistance to be provided by support directorates and public institutions in the States participating in the programmes; ensuring close interaction with other Ariane 6 projects within the Department to guarantee coordination, synergies and shared priorities within the overall Ariane IPT; interfacing with entities providing assistance for the implementation of such assistance; ensuring interactions with Infrastructure and Value Chain (STS-I) on other LEAP activities necessary for Ariane 6 exploitation.
Job requirements: A master's degree or PhD in an engineering discipline, with experience in project management in the space sector, is required for this post. Additional requirements include the potential to manage individuals or a team in a project setting; the ability to organise individual and team activities and ensure a motivating work environment; strong leadership capabilities, with proven relationship management and communication skills; the ability to drive your team’s performance, developing your people by encouraging learning, delegating responsibility and giving regular and constructive feedback; strong problem-solving skills to deal with day-to-day operational challenges, together with demonstrated planning and organisational skills; a strong result orientation with the ability to set priorities and present practical solutions both orally and in writing; the ability to manage challenging situations proactively and constructively and to be customer-focused; strong negotiation skills, with the ability to negotiate complex contracts with industry; the ability to interact with individuals from various entities and secure their buy-in for the achievement of programme objectives. People management experience is an asset, as is international experience, i.e. outside your home country, as well as experience in diverse functional areas relevant to ESA activities.
