What will you be doing?

The Kindness Cooperation delivers projects with real social impacts, with a current focus on intergenerational work.  We are looking for a digital expert to help design and build a book template on Canva (or similar) to be used by A-level students to develop and publish a book after engaging with an elderly member of our community.  After a structured 8-week interview process, the students will write up their life story using this template as a basis for entering and editing content into their final publishable book.  It will need some core components (page numbering, front/back covers, formatting of chapters, ability to add photos) but we would love for the template to be adaptable by the students to show their own creative flair. This role entails:

Working with TKC Founder to create a high level requirements document for the book template (using existing books as starting point) Building out template to meet agreed requirements using off-the-shelf software (Canva, or similar) Input into training materials for students to use book template Providing support for any issues or further minor enhancements during initial pilot of Life Stories project (due to take place between Nov 2025-April 2026).

This role can be done remotely via Teams calls, but volunteer is welcome to participate in Life Stories training workshops with students if helpful to them (based in East Grinstead, West Sussex).

What are we looking for?

Web/online tool development, ideally using Canva or a similar tool Graphic design for printable books

What difference will you make?

Your work will enable us to produce professional looking books for the older adult participants, that the A-level students are also very proud of creating.  These books are shared with the families of the older adult at an afternoon tea event, so you would be very welcome to attend that too (likely to be around May 2026).  If the pilot with 1-2 secondary schools is successful, we would like to roll this out to further secondaries across Sussex and beyond - so your input could be massively impactful to lots of elderly people in the South of England!
