Role Summary:

Role Requirements:
- A background in line and operational management, safety, security, and emergency responsibilities is needed.
- Strong communication skills are crucial.
- Possession of a Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licence is advantageous but not compulsory as training and licensing support will be provided.

The British Museum is undergoing an extraordinary transformation project, re-imagining the visitor experience. As a Security First Line Manager in the Visitor and Security Services Department, you will play a crucial role in providing a welcoming, safe, and secure environment for our visitors, staff, and our world-famous collection.
The role: You will oversee your team and provide operational management of security and emergency responsibilities. This includes managing crowds, monitoring required checks, and patrolling the Museum to ensure a visible presence. You will be involved in planning, coordinating resources, making operational decisions, and managing emergency situations and team performance to create a safe, secure, and fulfilling environment for the Museum's visitors.
About the department: The Visitor and Security Services Department works across the Museum to enhance public safety, manage ticket sales, provide information, and ensure the Museum's security. In 2024, the British Museum in Camden was the most visited museum in the UK with 6.5 million visitors.
Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have experience in line and operational management, managing safety, security, and emergency responsibilities, and strong communication skills. A Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licence is required, but candidates without one are encouraged to apply as the Museum will support the right candidates through the training and licensing process.
