What will you be doing?
I’m Scarlett Chapman, 14, and I started this because it breaks my heart to see families stuck in often cramped, awful temporary accommodation - sometimes for up to 15 years. I’ve been busking in the local area since I was 8, raising over £10,000 for local homelessness charities and helping spread awareness through regular press, TV, and radio coverage. We’re asking Brighton and Hove City Council to use their small, unused patches of land - microsites - to build council homes on. You could play a big role in this! Join our close-knit team of volunteers and help us convince the Council to free up land for homes, giving families a real shot at a better life. Check out my YouTube video (https://youtu.be/jXhxc-8D9TY) - then read on to see how you can pitch in! “I’ve met families living like this, and one mum, ‘Julie,’ told me they were given a place so bad they had to hoover mould off the bedroom walls. Her little girl kept getting lung infections - it shook me. That’s why we’re doing this.” – Scarlett Your Role
