Our charity supporting children affected by Adverse Childhood Experiences needs someone to help monitor our finances using Xero Projects. Work with our volunteer Finance Team and volunteer CEO to be our Xero Superhero!

What will you be doing?

You will monitor and report on our Projects (within Xero) and overall financial position, including Quarterly Reports to trustees and regular discussions with our volunteer CEO. We want to have robust financial procedures - will you help us to achieve this? You will:

Review and suggest improvements to our Financial Processes. Mentor the other members of the volunteer Finance Team, growing their skill set and our charity's resilience. Work asynchronously with the volunteer CEO via Teams to update her on any issues or concerns. Meet online via Teams with our volunteer CEO once a week initially, decreasing to monthly as you become more familiar with our systems and processes, and as they are refined/improved. Ensure that the members of the volunteer Finance Team are each completing their weekly tasks reliably and accurately. Ensure that bills are paid promptly by the team. Report to the Quarterly Trustees meeting ensuring that trustees receive the financial information that they require to carry our their responsibilities.

Reporting will include:

Performance versus budget and / or forecast Free reserves Financial position of each Project (we have Projects in Xero and you can use this to produce a Project Financials Report)

Annual Accounts preparation and presentation to Trustees at the end of each Financial Year (31 March) using Xero and the 'Receipts and Payments' basis. Liaising with our Independent Examiner by providing draft annual accounts, any information he requires and supporting his examination as needed.

You will have the following skills and experience (ideally):

Have 3 years' experience of working in finance. Proficient in using Xero or comparable financial software systems. Proven track record in managing accounting functions and delivering accurate financial reports. Demonstrated experience in the preparation of financial statements and reports. Experienced in monitoring project expenditure. Skilled in supervising others’ work.

  We are a very small charity and this will always be a volunteer role so please bear this in mind when applying.
