Role Summary

• Work within a dedicated team for the end-to-end preparation of EO future missions,
• Collaborate and interact closely with Earth observation users and various D/EOP divisions,
• As a Study Manager, you'll be responsible for defining, initiating and managing a range of engineering activities including pre-Phase A and mission/architecture studies.

Role Requirements

• A master’s degree or PhD in engineering or physics,
• Minimum six years of experience in space mission preparation/development,
• Specific experience in preparation (Phases 0 and A) of EO missions,
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within small teams or autonomously.
• Proficiency in English or French; knowledge of another Member State language is an asset.
• Open only to nationals of certain listed countries, including EU Member States and Canada.

We are looking for an Earth Observation Future Missions End-to-End System Engineer to join our team at the Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes (D/EOP). You will be reporting to the Head of the Mission and System Studies Section in the Future Missions and Instruments Division.

The role involves the end-to-end preparation of EO future missions through appropriate engineering activities. You will be working in close cooperation with staff within this and other D/EOP divisions, notably the Earth and Mission Science Division, and interacting with Earth observation users (e.g. Science Mission Advisory Groups).

As a Study Manager, you will be defining, negotiating, initiating and managing industrial activities including pre-Phase A and mission/architecture studies for EO future missions. You will also be defining, initiating, managing or supporting industrial architecture studies for EO future missions.

Job requirements include a master’s degree or PhD in engineering or physics and at least six years of relevant experience in space mission preparation and/or development. Experience in the preparation (Phases 0 and A) of EO missions is required. You should have good interpersonal skills and be able to work, coordinate and interact within small teams as well as autonomously.
