What will you be doing?

Rotherham Sea Cadets https://www.linkedin.com/company/rotherhamscc   Unit Management Trustees. As a member of the Unit Management Team (UMT) for the Sea Cadets, you will play a vital role in the smooth running and governance of your local unit. The UMT works behind the scenes to support the delivery of a safe, engaging, and inspiring experience for cadets. Your contribution will directly support the development of young people through nautical adventure and values-based learning. Key Responsibilities:

Governance & Compliance: Ensure the unit complies with Sea Cadets policies and procedures, as well as legal and safeguarding responsibilities. Support the Command Team: Work closely with the Commanding Officer and uniformed staff to provide the necessary infrastructure and support to run the unit effectively. Finance & Fundraising: Oversee or assist with managing unit finances, fundraising activities, and grant applications to ensure sustainability and growth. Facilities & Resources: Help maintain unit premises, equipment, and other resources, ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment for cadet activities. Promoting the Unit: Represent the Sea Cadets in the local community, support recruitment of cadets and volunteers, and promote the work of the unit. Meetings & Planning: Attend regular UMT meetings, contribute to decision-making, and support the development of strategic and operational plans for the unit’s success.

What You’ll Gain:

What are we looking for?

We are looking for new Trustees who have:

A passion for making a difference to young people and the local community Good communication skills An ability to work well with a team Previous experience in leading, governance, management or as a Trustee/governor A good understanding of how a small charity works or a willingness to learn A background of working with young people, would be useful but not essential.
