What will you be doing?
POST TITLE: Treasurer RESPONSIBLE TO: Chair of Board TIME COMMITMENT: Board of Trustees meet every 6-8 weeks throughout the year SALARY: This is a volunteer position LOCATION: Dunford House, 7 Boroughloch Lane, Edinburgh, EH8 9NL and online meetings DURATION: Treasurer can serve up to two 3-year terms, as voted at LAYC’s AGM ROLE PURPOSE: As Treasurer you will have a key role within LAYC’s Board of Trustees. You will work with LAYC’s Director and Finance & Business Support Officer to oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice. KEY DUTIES: Oversee the financial activities of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice. Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place. Observe and report on the financial health. Liaise with relevant staff and trustees to ensure the financial sustainability of the organisation. Support with presenting budgets, account reports and financial records. Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits. Make fellow trustees aware of their financial obligations and support in interpreting financial data. PERSON SPECIFICATION Skills: Experience as a Treasurer, Finance Officer or similar Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations. Excellent financial analysis Strong leadership skills and attention to detail Proficient in use of MS Office and financial management software. What difference will you make?
LAYC’s Board of Trustees is made up of 7 Member Group Trustee places, 3 co-opted places which the organisation uses at its discretion to support the charitable purposes and aims, working alongside a President, Chair and Vice Chair. The Board currently meets around every 6 weeks with the AGM in October. These positions may suit someone with an interest and/or connection to youth and children’s work in the Lothian area that is keen to support a diverse charity moving forward and creatively undertake its role as an umbrella organisation to meet the needs of Member Groups providing services for children and young people.
