Description of Our Board’s Current Challenges and Goals Our Board is focused on guiding Fresh Horizons CNB through a period of growth and greater impact. As we expand our housing and food support services to meet rising demand, our main challenges are:
Ensuring sustainable funding for essential support services beyond housing benefit. Strengthening partnerships and community support to grow our food initiatives. Maintaining robust governance, financial oversight, and good practice as we grow.
We want new Trustees who can bring fresh ideas, expertise, and commitment to help us tackle these challenges, strengthen our governance, and secure our long-term future. The Role We Want Our New Trustees to Play New Trustees will:
Contribute their skills, ideas and networks to shape our strategy and monitor performance. Help ensure we deliver our mission effectively and use resources wisely. Act as ambassadors for our work and help build community connections.
We especially need a Treasurer who will:
Oversee budgets, accounts, and financial planning. Ensure we have clear policies and good financial controls. Advise the Board on our financial health and sustainability.
Qualities and Attributes We’re Looking For We welcome people with:
A commitment to supporting people experiencing homelessness and food poverty. Willingness to give time, ideas, and independent judgement. The ability to work as a supportive, active team member. Lived experience of homelessness, housing insecurity, or food poverty is very welcome but not required.
For the Treasurer role, we need someone with:
Finance experience at a strategic level (qualified accountant desirable). Confidence explaining finances clearly to non-finance colleagues.
All Trustees receive training and support — first-time Trustees are very welcome
