What will you be doing?
Cayr Charity is in its first year as a registered charity, and this is a unique opportunity to join our board during a formative and exciting period. We're a small but ambitious organisation working at the intersection of creativity and public health. Our work spans breast cancer awareness, dementia and palliative care through the arts, and creative engagement with young people, with strong links to the NHS and grassroots communities. As we grow, we’re looking for trustees to join our board and support our development across governance, legal, and strategic planning. We're especially interested in people who can bring either lived experience related to our areas of work or professional knowledge in areas like health, HR, digital, or the legal sector. This year, we are focusing on:
Strengthening our financial systems and building towards long-term sustainability Embedding inclusive and responsive governance practices Building meaningful partnerships with healthcare providers, artists, and community groups
Developing our first multi-year strategic plan
We already have a small and active board and are now looking to expand its range of perspectives and experiences. We’re particularly keen to reflect the communities we serve, including those impacted by health inequalities. This might include lived experience of health challenges, caring responsibilities, or navigating the health system. You don’t need to have been a trustee before. We will support new trustees through clear onboarding and will offer reasonable adjustments as needed. You’ll be joining a friendly, values-driven team that wants to create real, measurable impact through creative approaches to health and wellbeing.
What are we looking for?
As a trustee, we are looking for people who bring diverse skills and experiences to our organisation. Key skills we are looking for include:
Experience - A minimum of 3 years of experience in professional fields. Legal Governance Property Management Collaborative Leadership
What difference will you make?
As a trustee of Cayr Charity, you’ll be part of shaping an organisation that is pioneering new ways of promoting public health through creativity. Your voice will help steer our strategy, ensure our projects remain community-led and relevant, and support our ability to grow sustainably. Our programmes empower people living with breast cancer, dementia, and chronic illness to be seen, heard, and valued. We bring together artists, health professionals, and people with lived experience to co-create exhibitions, workshops, and media that challenge stigma and create space for healing and visibility. Your role will help make these projects possible and more impactful. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring we stay connected to our purpose while building a resilient, values-based organisation. As we expand our partnerships and funding base, your insight and oversight will help ensure that Cayr is fit for the future. This is a real opportunity to contribute to a more compassionate and creative health system.
