Role Summary:
- Contribute to ESA-wide management as a member of the ESA Executive Board.

Role Requirements:
- A comprehensive understanding and experience in space operations, alongside experience in collaborating with partner institutions and the industry.
- Over a decade of experience in senior management positions at executive level, preferably in an international environment.
- Proven experience in business management, such as the ability to develop innovative strategies to increase operational efficiency.
- Eligibility to acquire security clearance by their national security administrations.
- Fluency in either English or French; knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is Europe's gateway to space. The role of Director of Operations is a key position within our organization. Reporting to the Director General, you will be responsible for contributing to ESA-wide management as a member of the ESA Executive Board, supporting the Director General in his responsibilities in the pursuit of ESA's overall objectives, fostering efficiency, and ensuring compliance with the applicable regulatory framework. You will also be responsible for relations with the administrative authorities of the host country, for on-site health, safety, environmental, and security provisions.
Job requirements include in-depth knowledge of and experience in the space operations field, including close cooperation with partner organisations and industry. More than 10 years' experience in senior management positions at executive level and in the management of teams and programmes of significant size in terms of budget and human resources, preferably in an international context. Proven experience in business management, e.g. ability to develop innovative strategies to increase operational efficiency, being open to disruptive innovation and new concepts and strategies.
