What will you be doing?
We’re looking for a creative and enthusiastic volunteer to help us raise awareness of our events, projects, and historical significance through engaging social media content. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for history, community engagement, and digital communication. This is a flexible role and there will be no need to visit the Barn regularly, but it’s pretty great so you’ll want to.
What are we looking for?
Key responsibilities
Develop and schedule engaging content across our Facebook and Instagram. Promote upcoming events, workshops, and activities with visually appealing and informative posts. Share stories from the barn’s history, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and volunteer spotlights. Help monitor engagement (likes, shares, comments), respond to basic queries, and contribute to growing our online community. Capture or source high-quality photos and short videos for use in posts (phone photography is fine). Liaise with other volunteers and staff to gather content ideas and updates.
What we’re looking for
Strong written communication skills and a good eye for storytelling. Social media marketing experience. Interest in history, heritage, community projects, or arts and culture. Self-motivated and able to work independently. Respectful of the barn’s historic environment and values.
What difference will you make?
As a social media volunteer, your work will play a vital role in raising awareness of Winterbourne Medieval Barn as a cultural and community hub. By crafting engaging posts and sharing stories online, you'll help attract visitors, grow our digital audience, and promote everything from concerts and craft fairs to educational workshops. Your content will not only showcase the barn’s rich history but also support our efforts to keep it thriving; increasing ticket sales, inspiring donations, and encouraging more people to get involved. You’ll help ensure this remarkable medieval building remains a living part of the local community, not just a historical site.
