What will you be doing?

We are looking for committed volunteers to help us launch a fundraising campaign to save and relaunch The Prisma – The Multicultural Newspaper. The campaign will combine several strategies: individual donations, crowdfunding, ethical advertising and, if possible, project-based funding. It involves many tasks, and we’ll assign them according to the volunteer’s skills and interests, working together as a small, supportive team. Volunteers will contribute to one or more of the following:

Expanding, organising and using our database of potential donors and allies. Sending personalised emails, following up with calls, and helping manage responses. Creating engaging content for social media — a key platform to attract supporters and donations — including text, visuals and short video clips. Helping develop the donation page and crowdfunding campaign. Reaching out to ethical businesses and potential donors. If possible, helping recruit volunteers for web support and technical improvements. Brainstorming creative ideas to promote the campaign and increase donations.

The key goal is to build momentum, raise funds and secure the future of The Prisma, the UK’s only bilingual newspaper created by immigrants, for immigrants. Volunteers will collaborate closely with the campaign coordinator and others, and we’re open to flexible involvement based on your time, skills and ideas. Every contribution count

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for volunteers who are organised, reliable and committed to the cause. You don’t need to be an expert, but experience in fundraising, social media, communications or digital outreach will be especially valuable. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a small remote team. Being proactive, meeting agreed deadlines, and maintaining good communication are key to making this collaboration work smoothly. Spanish and/or English language skills are welcome — being bilingual is a plus, but not essential. Above all, we’re looking for people who care about social justice, migrant voices, and the future of independent, volunteer-run media. If you believe in what The Prisma stands for, we’d love to work with you.

What difference will you make?

Volunteers will be essential to the success of our 2025 fundraising campaign, launched on the occasion of The Prisma’s 15th anniversary. Their work will help secure the funds we urgently need to continue publishing an independent, ethical and bilingual newspaper made by immigrants for immigrants in the UK. By contributing their time and skills in fundraising, social media or digital marketing, volunteers will help us reach wider audiences, increase engagement, and attract donations. They will directly support efforts to keep our platform alive, strengthen our technical capacity, and preserve over 10,000 archived articles that reflect the voices and struggles of migrant communities. Their impact will be both immediate and long-term: helping ensure that migrants in the UK continue to have a space where their stories are told, their rights defended, and their voices heard.
