Organisation Summary

One Acre Fund, established in 2006, supplies 5.5 million small-scale farmers with the means to boost productivity on their farms. Operating across nine countries that house two-thirds of Africa's farmers, its services include high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, loans, contemporary agronomic training, and other agricultural services. The model consistently increases farmer earnings and assets on the supported land by over 35 percent, while also boosting their resilience.

Role Summary

  • Support the field production team in the potato seed production department.
  • Report directly to the potato seed production senior coordinator.
  • Participate in field production activities of seed potatoes with an emphasis on achieving set yield and adhering to quality control processes.
  • Implement and coordinate good agriculture practices.
  • Record all field activities, including planting dates, yields of different varieties, etc.

Role Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in agronomy, crop production, or agriculture.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in potato farming.
  • A strong commitment to teamwork and working in rural areas.
  • Proficiency in both Kinyarwanda and English.

The Role The potato seed production field intern will support field production team to achieve the quality and quantity produce. You will be a part of potato seed production department and will report directly to potato seed production senior coordinator. You will support in the field production activities of seed potato with a clear focus on attaining set yields and adhering to the field quality control process. Coordinate the implementation of good agriculture practices. Recording of all field activities including planting dates, yield outcomes of different varieties.

Job Requirements Undergraduate degree in agronomy, crop production or agriculture. At least 1 year of experience in potato farming Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and work in a rural area. Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English is required.

Benefits Interns will be provided with a reasonable stipend for the duration of their contract.
