At BAPP we promote and facilitate opportunities for children and young people to play and participate in positive activities. We promote the importance of self-directed play for child development and the rights of children, supporting families to better understand this. BAPP offers play opportunities to children and young people living in B&NES through after school sessions, family playdays, holiday clubs and Saturday clubs. Our vision: Every child has the right to Play Every Child has the Right to Play and we recognise the powerful impact and value that play has for children experiencing adverse experiences, using a therapeutic, trauma informed playful approach to supporting children to develop resilience. We recognise the importance of self-directed play for children’s development and facilitate a range of play based opportunities, often outdoors that support and enrich children’s wellbeing. As a child-centred organisation with a strong inclusive ethos, our staff advocate for, listen and respond to children’s voices embedding these principles using the power of play as a catalyst for positive change. What difference will you make?
As a trustee group we are keen to add value to the charity, and we are currently looking at strategic planning and how we can make BAPP an even better charity for the staff, people we support, their families and the local community, this is a very exciting time to join the group. What you will be doing We have vacancies for new Trustees to join our Trustee Board. Trustees have overall control of a charity and are responsible for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do. Trustees are the people who lead the charity and decide how it is run. Being a trustee means making decisions that will impact on people’s lives. Being a Trustee of BAPP means that you will be making a difference to the children and families in the community. As a Trustee you will use your skills and experience to support BAPP to help achieve its aims. We hope that as a Trustee you will also learn new skills during your time on the board. Trustees within BAPP are voluntary roles and as such are not paid. It is a necessity that you have and are willing to give your time to help run the charity, being a trustee is a big commitment. This includes attending board meetings and engaging in specific projects, research and other activities needed for the proper performance of your duties. The Trustee group meet every six weeks, alternating between online and in person meetings. Therefore, we are looking for Trustee’s who are commutable to Bath.
